Crown Prince Frederik patron of the 26th FIDE Congress.

HRH The Crown Prince has agreed to become the patron of the 26th FIDE Congress held in Copenhagen in May. With the patronage, the Crown Prince wants to help strengthen the awareness of legislation in the European Union.

FIDE (Federation Internationale pour le Droit Européen) is an international federation of European law and is intended to provide a forum for dealing with current EU law issues and the interaction between EU and national legislation.

FIDE was founded in 1961 and brings together the national associations of European law from almost all EU countries. The Congress, held every two years, discusses EU legal problems based on three selected topics.

In 1978, when Copenhagen hosted the FIDE Congress the first time, HM The Queen was the patron of the congress.

The Congress will take place from 28 to 31 May 2014 at the Tivoli Congress Center in Copenhagen.
