King Carl XVI Gustaf's 70th Birthday.

On 30 April, King Carl XVI Gustaf celebrated his 70th Birthday, the festivities started with a Te Deum at the Royal Chapel in Stockholm.
Among foreign royal guests were King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, Princess Takamado of Japan, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Prince Albert II.


All the Swedish Royal Family attended the ceremony, including Princess Estelle.


After the TeDeum, all the royal guests were joined by Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Princess Märtha-Louise of Norway and husband Ari Behn for the Armed Forces celebration for the King at the Palace's Courtyard.


When the Armed Forces and changing of the guard ended, everyone headed to the Palace's balcony where a chorus sang to King Carl Gustaf. This time the family was joined by almost 2-month-old Prince Oscar, who was making his balcony debut.


To finish with the day celebrations, the city of Stockholm offered a lunch for everyone at the City Hall. The King and Queen arrived by carriage. Princess Sofia didn't attend the lunch as she returned home to be with Prince Alexander.


In the afternoon, a banquet was held for all the guests.

Council meeting and TeDeum in honor of Prince Oscar Carl Olof.

On 03 March, King Carl XVI Gustaf gave the name and full title of the newborn Prince at a council meeting at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

The Prince is named Carl after his grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Olof after his grandfather Olle Westling (tho it's Prince Daniel's first name too).

During the morning's cabinet meeting, at the Royal Palace, Stewardess Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke, Marshall of the Realm Svante Lindqvist and Prime Minister Stefan Löfven told more about how the birth "witnessing" went.

  1. Urban Ahlin described newborn little Oscar as "exceptionally cute," 
  2. He is very well behaved and did not say a word during the witness confirmation.
  3. The Prince has dark hair.
  4. He has very "delicate features," according to Kirstine von Blixen-Finecke.
  5. And cute little ears!

The traditional 21-gun salute was given after the King announced the name of the Prince. The last duke of Skåne was King Gustav VI Adolf (1882–1973) .

The King, Queen, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O'Neill attended the TeDeum in honor of the birth of Prince Oscar at the Royal Chapel afterwards, members of the official Sweden and Court staff also attended.

The TeDeum is an old church ceremony, the royal connection occurs at major key events in the royal family: baptisms, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions.

Three generations in Skansen.

On Lill-Skansen Princess Estelle got to watch the goats and take a ride with the aid of the King and the Crown Princess. The visit also included a look at the Bears and the colorful parrots.

Swedish National Day 2014.

Grattis på Nationaldagen, Sverige! Today National Day was celebrated all over Sweden with many events throughout the country.

National day began when Princess Madeleine, Mr. Christopher O'Neill and Princess Leonore opened the doors for Open Palace Day at the Royal Palace. Right up to 17.00, therewas free admission to the Royal Palace.

Meanwhile in Sundsvall, the King and Queen arrived at the airport and met governor couple Bo and Eva Källstrand, stated Mayor Sten-Ove Danielsson with wife Åsa Danielsson, the singer of the hard rock band Corroded Jens Westin, Gunnar Selling from Forestry Board and Elisabeth Blomberg, Communications and Project Manager for the visit. 
This year's National Day celebrations in Ånge municipality drew attention to the rich and vibrant association, cultural and music in the community. The good opportunities for a rich leisure is one of the municipality's most important competitive advantages. 
During the bus ride to the Steamers, the King and Queen were informed about Steamers which currently has 9500 inhabitants. The municipality is investing today in much of the creative industries and in education where consensus across party lines.

At Steamers party place, the King and Queen and all the other guests got to see the pageant where all the compounds in the Steamers were invited to participate, all to the music of the fiddlers. The program began with the King's song and a welcome by the municipal commissioner Sten-Ove Danielsson before King held a speech:
"On this day - Swedish national day - I hope to contribute to our network even stronger bond between us as fellow human beings. Regardless of where we come from or where we are going., I hope everyone feels like a part of the whole that is our country. It's important that we open ourselves in thought and action, especially against those who may feel that they stand alongside. "


The speech was followed by a music program with Göran Månsson and Jens Engelbrecht on flute and guitar, backing vocals with Torp Choir, Will choir and opera singing of AnnLouice Lögdlund. The program ended with music by Klara Li Andersson, Torp youth choir, actors and musicians from Theatre Workshop and students from Ålsta Folkhögskolas music program before the national anthem was sung.  
Meanwhile, the Crown Princess Couple arrived at the Confidence in Ulrikedalsvägen Palace Park where the City of Solna organized this year's citizenship ceremony. The Crown Princess was greeted at the Confidence of City Council President Sven Kinnander, Signe Levin (1e Vice-Chairman), Helene Ekegren (2e Vice Chairman) and Per Gran Falk (Mayor).

The ceremony began with the singing of opera singer Paulina Pfeiffer before City Council Chairman Sven Kinnander welcomed the attendats. Then framföde jewels from Kulturskolan Here it gudagott to be, Show in midsummer and Dearest brothers. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.

At Skansen, National Day is traditionally celebrated at the Sollidenvägen scene with a solemn celebration program. The host of the program was Mike Leijnegard and artistic tern occurring was Lill Lindfors, Johnel, Medina, Loreen, Ingá-Maret Gaup Juuso, Rickard Söderberg and Darin.

After the celebration at Skansen, the King and Queen hosted representatives of parliament, government, the public sector in Sweden and parts of the diplomatic corps at the reception at the Royal Palace.

Princess Estelle Visits Linköping Castle and Inaugurates Fairytale Trail at Tåkern.

The visit began at Linköping castle where Governor Elisabeth Nilsson welcomed the Royal visitors to the county. In Linköping Castle there is now the Duchess Estelle salon that was shown by royal architect Mats Fredriksson and museum director Mark Lindberg. The salon is located next to the dining room where lunch was served.

In the afternoon, the Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle visited Tåkern, one of northern Europe’s most important bird lakes. The Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle opened the fairytale path that Princess Estelle got as Christening gift in May 2012. The trail is 700 meters long and along the trail there are ten stations with figures and experiences for all children. Along the trail are colorful illustrations that tell a story, connecting the stations and for the visitor forward along the path.

King Carl XVI Gustaf's Birthday.

Hooray! On April 30th, King Carl XVI Gustaf celebrated his 68th Birthday at the Royal Palace with the traditional public flag day, salute from Skeppsholmen and programs on the Outer Courtyard.

A couple of thousand people had gathered to celebrate the King's 68 th anniversary. The music during the celebration on the Outer Courtyard was played by the Navy Band, Army Band and the Band of the Life Guards.

After the celebration on the Outer Courtyard "Medi @ Boom" newspaper got an interview with the King. When the interview was done, the King showed the Bernadotte Library to the editors.

Crown Princess Victoria Opens The Exhibition "Frogs - Jungle Jewels"

Today, April 16th, Crown Princess Victoria and her daughter Princess Estelle opened The "Frogs - Jungle Jewels" at Skansen Aquarium in Stockholm.

Jonas Wahlstrom, director of the Skansen Aquarium, opened the dedication ceremony by talking about frogs, including the number of frogs in the wild is an easy way to measure how nature feels. Unfortunately, almost half of the world's approximately 6,400 amphibian species are endangered. For over 500 species Zoos are the only way to survive while waiting for their environment is restored.

The world's frogs maintain balance in the ecosystem because they eat large amounts of insects. They are also very important in other ways, for example, several substances in many medicines originated in frogs.
The Princesses opened the exhibition Frogs - jungle jewels by dropping a 1 kg heavy Agapadda in a jungle environment.

Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle in Umeå

From Friday 31 January to Sunday, February 2 Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle attended the opening ceremony of Umeå 2014 European Capital of Culture.
The visit began at the Museum of Västerbotten where Crown Princess Couple were welcomed by President Ulrica Grubbström and then saw two exhibitions.

Then, The Crown Princess inaugurated the Sune Jonsson center for documentary photography.

The day ended with a dinner at the residence where the governor Magdalena Andersson hosted.

Saturday began with a visit to the University of Umeå artistic campus. Rector Lena Gustafsson hosted the visit. Arts Campus consists of the School of Architecture, Institute of Design, Fine Arts, Bildmuseet Humlab-X. The art center is located in a building designed by the Danish Agency Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with White Architects.



After lunch, which was held inside the Arts studio at the Institute of Design, the Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle visited central Umeå to see a part of all the experiences that are open to all residents and visitors in Umeå.



The next stop on the walk was Sápmi, a lounge at the Town Hall Square in Umeå where several samebys from Västerbotten are in place. The Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle were among the attendants.


The Crown Princess attended the opening ceremony Burning Snow which marked the official start of the European Capital of Culture year in Umeå. The ceremony took place at the Ume River, directly below the City Hall Park in central Umeå. Around 55,000 visitors had gathered.
