Crown Princess Victoria Opens The Exhibition "Frogs - Jungle Jewels"

Today, April 16th, Crown Princess Victoria and her daughter Princess Estelle opened The "Frogs - Jungle Jewels" at Skansen Aquarium in Stockholm.

Jonas Wahlstrom, director of the Skansen Aquarium, opened the dedication ceremony by talking about frogs, including the number of frogs in the wild is an easy way to measure how nature feels. Unfortunately, almost half of the world's approximately 6,400 amphibian species are endangered. For over 500 species Zoos are the only way to survive while waiting for their environment is restored.

The world's frogs maintain balance in the ecosystem because they eat large amounts of insects. They are also very important in other ways, for example, several substances in many medicines originated in frogs.
The Princesses opened the exhibition Frogs - jungle jewels by dropping a 1 kg heavy Agapadda in a jungle environment.

State Visit to China - Program.

Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik will make a State Visit to China from 24 - 28 April 2014. Under the heading of sustainability the state visit will focus on the broad Danish-Chinese cooperation in areas such as energy and the environment, innovation, investment, transpor, maritime sectors, health, food, and food safety and Danish design.
The royal couple were on an official visit to China in 1979, and in 2012 the then Chinese President Hu Jintao was on a state visit to Denmark

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel in Tensta.

Today the Crown Princess Couple visited SFI Västerort in Tensta to take part of the training of Swedish for Immigrants (SFI).

The SFI training is a language teaching. The overall goal of the business is that teaching should create the conditions for participation in Swedish society that leads to self-sufficiency through work or studies. The program has a clear focus on the students' future employment and occupation.

During the visit to the school in Tensta the Crown Princess Couple met students of two SFI groups and their teachers Nadja Löfving Pavlovic, Linda Furuby and Ulrika Wimmercranz. 
The Crown Princess also received information on the education Swedish for immigrants and Swedish for professionals of Principal Officer Charlotte Svensson, Leif Styfberg, director of SFI Stockholm and the Rector of the SFI Västerort Tobias Fann porch.

King Carl Gustaf at a Board Meeting.

Today the HM the King of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation for Youth in Sweden, where the King is chairman had a board meeting.
The fundation was initiated by the Swedish Lions and the Swedish Guide and Scout Council in conjunction with the King's 50th birthday.

The King presents medals.

On Monday, April 14, The King, the Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography presented medals at a ceremony at the Royal Palace. The Vega Medal was awarded to Professor Compton James Tucker and Wahlberg's Gold Medal was awarded to Professor Gudrun Gisladottir.

Compton James Tucker is a professor at NASA's Goddars Space Flight Center with a focus on remote sensing. He is awarded the Vega Medal for his contribution to science in remote sensing. "He has had the unique ability to combine insights in radiation physics and electromagnetic imaging with deep knowledge of physical geography."

Guðrún Gisladottir is a Professor of Geography at the University of Iceland. She assigned Wahlberg's Gold Medal for "her broad and deep knowledge of land degradation and desertification, and for her work to establish broad geographic network environments and meeting places for researchers in geography."

The Swedish Society for Anthropology and Geography was founded in 1878. SSAG supports research through grants, publishes scientific journals Annals of Geography A and B and the yearbook Ymer, handing out medals and organizes field trips and lectures. The King is the Society's principal patron.

Global Child Forum 2014 in Stockholm.

On Friday, April 11 the Global Child Forum 2014, the Fourth Forum for children's rights was held at the Royal Palace. This year's theme was Partnerships for children's rights-today and for the future. 
Early in the morning the gates of the Royal Palace were opened and over three hundred guests gathered in the Hall to discuss child rights issues. Those invited were leaders from international corporations, financial institutions, representatives from the UN, academia and government representatives.

The Global Child Forum was initiated by the Royal Family in 2009. The Global Child Forum is an independent platform that brings together world-leading stakeholders for deeper dialogue and a better understanding of children's rights.
King Carl XVI Gustaf welcomed the participants to this year's Global Child Forum, a day for all the world's children. One day, as the King hopes, will help the situation of children improve more rapidly. Including by today's forum will lead to inspiration, innovation and collaboration.



The Queen thanked all the dedication and idealism that was expressed during the day with a wish to children around the world will now see that we are working for their rights.
The day ended with a concert in the Royal Chapel and during the evening a reception was held at the Tessin Palace, where the Stockholm County Governor Chris Heister was host.

Norwegian Royal Roundup.

The Norwegian Royal Family has been working a lot this past week and unfortunately we haven't been updating on them. So we set up a Roundup for you to catch up on them!

95 Nations in One School
On 3 April, Queen Sonja made a visit to Sogn og Fjordane. She spent the evening with teachers and students at the Nordic United World College in Fjaler.
The school was founded in 1995 and was opened by Queen Sonja and Queen Noor of Jordan.

On 4 April, the Queen continued her visit and laid the foundation stone for the new dormitory building at the Nordic United World College.
Think about what it means when 200 students from 95 countries get to know  each other and get to know each other's culture. I think it's a brilliant move that we should have more of around the world, said the Queen after the foundation laying ceremony.

In the afternoon, the Queen visited  Åmot Farm Bygstad. The hosts at the farm, Steinar Sørlie and Yngve Brakstad, took courage and led Queen Sonja to the yard where it was arranged party program.

On 8 April Crown Prince Haakon was present at the Opening Ceremony of "Innovation in Community", the KS Corporate meeting that was held on 8-9 April in Fornebu.
On 10 April, the Crown Prince handed the Export Award 2014 to Jets Vacuum. The company manufactures advanced sanitation solutions - vacuum toilets - which reduces water consumption to one-eighth of normal.


Annual Report 2013
The Royal Court released the Annual Report. The annual report contains an overview of the Royal House official program, a presentation of the Royal Court and the court activities and accounts of the royal civil list, Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince and Crown Princess's staff and Open Castle.
His Majesty the King in 2013 attended by 314 official engagements in Norway and internationally, while HM The Queen attended by 98 official engagements, HRH Crown Prince attended by 200 official engagements and HRH Crown Princess at 72 official missions.

Prince Carl Philip Visits Kalmar

Yesterday, April 11th, Prince Carl Philip visited Kalmar Lant and Agricultural Society of Kalmar. The visit began with meeting a milk producer, Martin Eskilsson in Nanntorp. Martin told The Prince about their business and gave a tour of the facilities.

Later Prince Carl Philip inaugurated Kalmar Country Men's new feed mill Crown Kalmar port. In his speech, Prince said that "The factory is a clear and important investment in Swedish agriculture and for the Swedish food industry - two areas that are close to my heart."
In the afternoon The Prince visited Torslunda Development Centre , operated by the Agricultural Society of the County of Kalmar to inspire and develop businesses related to agriculture, culture, technology and rural development in south-eastern Sweden.
The afternoon ended with the prince visiting Ingelstorp College , an agricultural college and Polytechnic and Agricultural Society.

Crown Princess Mary visits Sønderbro School.

It caused great excitement among the pupils, as Crown Princess Mary on Friday was visiting  Sønderbro School in Copenhagen. The visit took place on the occasion of the school's 200th anniversary.

Crown Princess Mary is the patron of the anniversary 'School for 200 years "and is participating in a number of anniversary activities that are part of the collaboration between schools Song day and Schools Innovation Day. Since 1814, Danish children had the right and obligation to receive education.

On Sønderbro School the Crown Princess listened to the school choir sing the school song. Were also showcased student products, and Crown Princess Mary visited a school class.

Crown Princess Mary in Roskilde.

Crown Princess Mary opened the "The World in the Viking Age" which presents the Viking Age in the new global context today at the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde.

King Carl Gustaf Opens Forest Industry Week In Sweden

Tuesday, April 8th The King opened the Forest Industry Week and gave Rates for Munich brewery in Stockholm.
The purpose of the Forest Industry Week is to create an arena where industry, politicians, unions and other stakeholders to meet and discuss current issues affecting the forestry industry.

The day began with a talk by futurologist Magnus Lindkvist, who spoke under the title The vertical future - Creation or competition in tomorrow's forest industry?
Then the King awarded three prizes:
  • Gold Twig , which this year went to Herman Sundqvist, Forest Manager at Sveaskog, and Lennart Henriksson, an ecologist at the Natural & Human AB. The award goes to people on the national level have made ​​valuable contributions to forestry.
  • Count Carl Bernadotte forest price to Pär Lärkeryd, CEO of the Northern Forest Owners. The award is given for more than 50 years to a person who made ​​the Swedish forestry outstanding services. Queen Silvia Receives The "Der Friedenstein" Award

Yesterday, April 7th, the Queen accepted the award Der Friedstein for her work with the World Childhood Foundation. The award was presented at a ceremony at Schloss Friedenstein in Gotha, Germany.

The Queen is the World Childhood Foundation's founder and honorary chairman. Childhood's work is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and is religiously and politically independent. Childhood has offices in Sweden, Brazil, Germany and the U.S. and provides assistance to approximately 100 projects in 17 countries.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia in The Netherlands - Day Two

April 5th was the second day of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia's state visit to The Netherlands to commemorate the 400 year anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Sweden and the Netherlands. The day begun with both royal couples arriving at the Rijksmuseum. King Carl Gustaf and Silvia were given a private tour, paying special attention to Swedish and Sweden related paintings.

Afterwards both royal couples attended the launch of the book "The Swedes and The Dutch Were Made For Each Other" a book that tells of Sweden and the Netherlands shared history and long friendship through four centuries. Afterwards The Kingly Pairs saw the actual document signed in 1614 that began their diplomatic relationship.

King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia in The Netherlands - Day One

From April 4th to the 5th The King and Queen of Sweden went on a State Visit to The Netherlands at the request of King Willem Alexander of The Netherlands and his wife Queen Maxima of The Netherlands. The visit is to commemorate the occasion of 400 anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Sweden and the Netherlands.

The Swedish Royal Couple was first greeted at The Royal Palace by King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima. Then in the afternoon the two Kings attended the seminar Innovations at Swedish Chamber of Commerce. In the meantime Queen Silvia and Queen Maxima visited the district Hogeweyk in Weesp, a residential area that is specially designed for people with dementia. During the tour, representatives of Alzheimer Nederland how the care will lead to a more dignified life.

The day was capped off with a boat ride on the river Ij followed by an elegant banquet.

Find Your Way in Denmark 2014.

Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella participated on "Find Your Way in Denmark" today at Rude Forest. "Find Your Way" is an annual exercise day by the Danish orienteering clubs behind , which spreads over 43 different locations scattered throughout the country. Anyone can participate and everyone can choose which route to follow - and the pace at which they will climb on in.



It was fun, but also a little ... phew, said Prince Christian after having completed the two-kilometer long route.
Princess Isabella crossed the finish line in time 19 minutes and 24 seconds, and even if she did not come first, she was happy .
 Mom, I was faster than you, she turned to Crown Princess Mary, who acknowledged that she had been overtaken .
