King and Queen Meet The Swedish Villagers Musical

Saturday March 29th, the King and Queen went to Visby to see the musical Swedish Villagers - The sky our roof earth our floor at the Gotland county theater.

King and Queen arrived in Visby during the morning and then ate lunch at the residence where the governor Cecilia Schelin Seidegård hosted. Then saw the King and Queen musical Swedish Villagers at the County Theater.

The show Swedish Villagers - The sky our roof earth our floor is based on the true story of Swedish villagers who in 1782 was sent from Hiiumaa in Estonia to the south of Ukraine where they would grow up areas recently wrested from Turkey. The story follows the two girls Nelly and Alvina (played by Anna Jankert and Martyna Lisowska) who move from village Gammalsvenskby to Sweden in 1929.

The libretto was written by Carsten Palmaer and music by Mathias Lundqvist.

Crown Princess Mary in Estonia - Program.


Crown Princess Mary will make a Visit to Estonia on April 1-2, 2014
Tuesday 1 April
  • The Crown Princess visits the Estonian kindergarten Suitsupääsupesa Lasteaed who have used No Bullying tools since 2010.
  • The Crown Princess participates in the opening of the Danish King's Garden along with Tallinn's mayor. The garden was renovated in 2013 with the support of Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik's Foundation and the AP Møller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Møller Foundation for General Purposes. The opening is a selection of relations between Denmark and Estonia since regaining of independence in 1991 has characterized the bilateral relationship.
  • The Crown Princess participates in the opening of the photo exhibition "A Modern Royal Household" in medieval tower Kiek in de Kok, which is part of the Tallinn City Museum. The exhibition shows the renovation of Frederik VIII's Palace.
  • The Crown Princess participates in reception at Tallinn Town Hall, where the mayor of Tallinn Edgar Savisaar hosts.
  • Crown Princess meet with Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and First Lady Mrs. Evelin Ilves in presidential couple's official residence mansion.

Wednesday 2 April
  • The Crown Princess participates in No Bullying conference organized by the Estonian Ombudsman for Children and the Estonian Association for Child Welfare and a keynote speech. The conference will discuss the use of No Bullying program in Estonian kindergartens and schools.
  • The Crown Princess participates in the Danish-Estonian seminar "Sustainable Fashion - A Business Model". The seminar discussed the potential for sustainability in the fashion industry.
  • The Crown Princess participates in lunch at the Danish Embassy in Estonia, where the Danish Ambassador hosts.
  • The Crown Princess visits the school Kadrioru Saksa Gümnaasium, which since 2013 has been part of a No Bullying pilot project was launched in 25 schools in Estonia.
  • Crown Princess visit the Estonian Children's Literature Centre.
  • The Crown Princess participates in concert and reception for partners and Danes living in Estonia at Blackhead's House in Tallinn.

Queen Silvia Meets With Care About The Children Board

Monday, March 31st, the board of Queen Silvia's Foundation Care About the Children met at the Royal Palace.
The Foundation's purpose is to provide grants to Swedish and international projects that give disadvantaged children around the world the opportunity to feel safe and happy during their upbringing.
The collection to Care About The Children took place in autumn 2013 and was handed over to the Queen during the Queen's 70th birthday and the tribute show which was held at the Oscars Theatre in Stockholm on 19 December 2013.
"We took the initiative to Care About the Children pay tribute to Queen Silvia and thanks for all she has done and is doing for children around the world. We want to give her the opportunity to help more ', "says Olof Stenhammar, President of the Queen Silvia's Foundation Care About the Children.

Queen Margrethe Patron of the Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017.


Her Majesty the Queen has become patron of Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017. 

Denmark has assumed the hosting of the European Capital of Culture in 2017. 
The EU has designated the Aarhus European Capital of Culture in 2017 following a competition organized by the Ministry of Culture and an international jury recommendation.

The Capital of Culture 2017 Aarhus supported by regional NSW and municipalities in the region. 
The theme of the Culture Capital is RETHINK and has emerged based on input from more than 8,000 citizens. The cultural capital is a space to experiment and rethink the way we live. 

The project with culture as the focal focus on urban development, integration, business, tourism, infrastructure and international collaborations.

Official Itinerary for King Carl XVI Gustaf & Queen Silvia's Official Visit to The Netherlands

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will pay an official visit to the Netherlands at the invitation of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. The visit on 4-5 April 2014 is carried out on the occasion of 400 anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Sweden and the Netherlands.
Friday, April 4th
  • 13.50 - Arrive at Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam in Amsterdam. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima receives the King and Queen.
  • 14:50 - Innovation Seminar at the Swedish Chamber of Commerce. King distributes export to Swedish companies.
  • 15.15 - Queen Maxima and Queen Silvia visit the district Hogeweyk in Weesp, a residential area that is specially designed for people with dementia.
  • 17.45 - After the boat trip makes King Parenting a short walking tour through Amsterdam to the castle.
  • 19.30 - Official shooting at Koninklijk Paleis op de Dam.
  • 19:55 - King Willem-Alexander and King Carl XVI Gustaf gives the starting signal for a projection of the painting Claudius Civilis by Rembrandt at the palace.
  • 20.30 - Banquet at the Royal Palace.
Saturday, April 5
  • 09:55 - Swedish King and Queen arrive at the Rijksmuseum. Tour of the museum.
  • 11.00 - King Willem-Alexander and Máxima Queen arrives at the Rijksmuseum where Rembrandt Batavernas oath seconded from Sweden appears.
  • 11.30 - Book view The Swedes and the Dutch were made ​​for eachother
  • 12.10 - The King and The pairs appear before the Declaration of Diplomatic Relations signed on 5 april 1614.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in Latvia - Day 2

King Carl XVI Gustaf and his wife Queen Silvia have spent two days in Lativa on a state visit at the request of The Latvian President Andris Bērziņš. Their day began with in early morning meeting with The Swedish Business Delegation looking for ways to improve the business relations between Sweden and Latvia.




The rest of the second day had the Royal Couple separated. While The King spent most of his day in important meetings about industry and the environment Queen Silvia took the opportunity to visit some of her favourite causes and areas of interest. 

Queen Silvia first visited Riga Strandins University and toured the medical training labs where she met several Swedish Students. 




Silvia then made her way to Arsenal Art Gallery where she was given a private guided tour. 


At the same time The King visited a water treatment plant in Riga which handles all the water for the city and surrounding neighbourhoods.



After the tour of the plant he met with several Latvian and Swedish businesses to get a better understanding of the trade and industry work between the two countries. After lunch Carl Gustaf stopped by army base Ādaži and met with Defense Minister Raimonds VĒJONIS and supreme commander Lieutenant General Raimonds Graube. Lastly Carl Gustaf went to The Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and met with economic and trade ministers for both countries.


Next for Queen Silvia after lunch was a trip to The Salvation Army in Riga, here she spent her time touring the facilities and programs and meeting staff. Silvia spent most of her time in the Young Peoples Program, where she met several children of varying ages who are benefiting from the programs The Salvation Army offers. The young girls there dressed up as the beloved Swedish children's character Pippi Longstocking and performed a song for The Queen. 






The visit to Latvia ended for The Royal Couple with The King and Queen's reciprocal dinner at Riga Bourse.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia in Latvia - Day 1

Sweden's King and Queen spent two days in Latvia on a state visit from March 26th to 27th at the invitation of  President Andris BērziņšThe purpose of the state visit is to improve relations between the two countries, mainly through trade and industry. They were welcomed in Riga the country's capital with a big crowd carrying many blue and yellow Swedish flags mixed with the red and white Latvian ones.




Day one involved many meetings with the Latvian President and his wife at The House of The Blackheads, the official temporary residence of The President. 



There Carl Gustaf and Silvia signed a guest book and were shown many Swedish and Latvian historical items including maps, books, dishware and paintings. 




The King and The President also inspected a regiment of the Latvian Army.



The King and Queen also received a tour of the Swedish Embassy and ended their first day with a private dinner with The President and other dignitaries.

Prince Joachim in Greenland.

On 25-27 March Prince Joachim was in Greenland to visit the Arctic Command and attended the board meeting of the Royal Greenlandic Fund in Nuuk.

On Wednesday 26 March, a board meeting of the Royal. Greenland Fund was held at the Arctic Command ship "Knud Rasmussen."

Crown Princess Victoria in Oskarshamn

Yesterday The Crown Princess visited OKG's Oskarshamn nuclear power plant and the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Co's central interim storage facility for spent fuel, CLAB. Victoria's day in Oskarshamn was one in a series of visits that Crown Princess makes the energy sector.





During the trip from Kalmar to Oskarshamn Crown Princess Victoria got information of Governor Stefan Carlsson, rural director John Winroth and county councilor Malin Almqvist Kalmar county development and future issues, the green industry and energy issues.


During the visit, The Crown Princess got to know more about the business and a vising of the reactor hall and reactor O3. The day ended with the Crown Princess was given a guided tour of CLAB, central interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel and saw, among other förvaringsbasängerna for interim storage.

Crown Princess Mary in Billund.

Crown Princess Mary was in Billund today, first, she helped packing the backpacks that Mary Fonden gives to the children who arrive to their shelters along with members of the LEGO Foundation.


Every year, The Mary Foundation distributes approximately 2,500 backpacks to children who come to women's shelters in Denmark and Greenland and on the Faroe Islands. The backpacks contain a toothbrush, teddy bear, diary, pyjamas and a greeting from Crown Princess Mary, among other things. In addition to meeting a basic need for the essentials, the backpack also represents a symbolic gesture to the children which shows them that they are being heard and sends the message that violence is never acceptable.
After that, she visited the International School of Billund where she was recieved by a choir of children.

Crown Princess Victoria Attends Brain Day

Yesterday The Crown Princess attended the Brain Day of the People's House, Stockholm. Brain Day is organized by the Brain Foundation.The Crown Princess was welcomed by the Brain Foundation Secretary General Ms Stein Wall and Chairman Lars Olson.

During the day, Crown Princess Victoria listened to presentations of research results in hjärnfoskning, child brain, the importance of sleep, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and finally, brain and reality.

Crown Prince Haakon visits environmental business.

Crown Prince Haakon visited today the production of enterprise Eco-1 on Saethre in Hurum. The company specializes in biofuels and supplies including bio-oil to homes and industrial buildings throughout Scandinavia.


Eco-1 has in a short time expanded as a result of increased demand for biofuels. The bio-oil produced by the company are used in all oil-fired boilers and furnace conversion makes more efficient and clean burning.
The company has also a special project with the City of Oslo supplying biofuels to Oslo School.

During the visit in the Pokolbin, the Crown Prince a tour of the facility by CEO Geir Harald Ingeborgrud.
The products produced are standardized and strict traceability requirements and environmental accounting. The company has developed a purification process of returbioolje and greasy water, and produces bio-oil suitable for industrial use.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the Library Conference in Trondheim.

Today Crown Princess Mette - Marit attended the opening of the 74 Norwegian Library Conference. There, she read from Rainer Maria Rilke 's novel "Malte Laurids Brigges opptegnelser" from 1910. The excerpt is taken from the chapter " Biblioteque Nationale " and the Crown Princess also read that during the Oslo Book Festival in 2012 



The Crown Princess was supposed to visit The Library Association's centennial last fall, but the neck prolapse put a stop to it . She came here now instead , says the association's outgoing leader Ingeborg Rygh Hjorten to NRK.
Crown Princess Mette - Marit's visit to Trondheim was also warming up for next week , when she embarks on a literary train on the Nordland Line . King Carl XVI Gustaf Meets The New Secretary General of the Boy Scouts

On Monday, 24 March the King met with Catherine Hedberg, new Secretary General of the Boy Scouts, at the Royal Palace.
During the meeting, Carl Gustaf and Catherine Hedberg spoke about Scout activities in Sweden during the year and plans for the future.
King is the honorary president of the Boy Scouts and since 1977 Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation.

Queen Silvia Buys The First Corn Flower

Today, the Queen traditionally bought the first Corn Flower of the year. This year Oumo Bayo and Ruben Söderlund, Class 6 on Katarina Södra School in Stockholm, sell the first Mayflower pin to the Queen. The queen also thanked the children for being good examples that showed that children can help other children who are in need.

Sales of this year's Corn Flower starts Tuesday, April 8. Mayflower is the largest children's charity. Majblomman working to improve conditions for children and combat child poverty in Sweden. The Queen is patron of Mayflower's highest and buys the first Mayflower every year.

Crown Princess Victoria Attends The Launch of White Paper


Tuesday March 25, The Crown Princess attended the launch of the White Paper: The dark and unknown history . The ceremony took place at Norra Latin in Stockholm.
Integration Minister Erik Ullenhag featured  The dark and unknown history - a White Paper on abuses and violations of Romany and Travellers in Sweden during the 1900s.
Invited to the ceremony at Norra Latin was among the Roma and facilitators spread that contributed to the book's genesis, representatives of Roma organizations, representatives of agencies and organizations as well as members of parliament.
The White Paper, which is based on archival material, research reports, and interviews with Roma and Travellers, is to pay tribute to the victims and their relatives and foster understanding of the Roma minority situation today.
The book, which has been developed within the framework of the Ministry of Labour, do not provide a complete picture of the vulnerability of Roma during the 1900s, but is the most comprehensive in this area.
