New schools

Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus will from the autumn attend new schools. Princess Ingrid Alexandra will attend Oslo International School, while Prince Sverre Magnus will attend Oslo Montessori School. 
Both children previously attended Jansløkka school in Asker. The Crownprince couple released a statement on behalf of the matter.

We are very grateful for the lovely years our children had at Jansløkka school in Asker. Princess Ingrid Alexandra's future role entails that she has a good competence in both thinking and speaking in English.

The Norwegian royal children are not the only royal children that will be attending new schools this autumn. Prince Nikolai will be attending Herlufsholm school in Næstved, south of Copenhagen. The prince will attend the boarding school during his year 10, before starting high school in the autumn of 2015.

Summer Cruise in Aalborg.

Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik are officially on their annual summer cruise around Denmark on board the royal yacht Dannebrog on 18-20th June. Their first stop was Aalborg on 18 June.

The royal couple were received by, among others, civil service director Lisa Haxgart and Mayor Thomas Kastrup-Larsen.

The royal couple were driven to the City Hall on a coach, accompanied by Mayor Thomas Kastrup-Larsen and his wife. At their arrival to the City Hall, a reception was held.

After the reception on the City Hall, the Royal Couple visited Boligforeningen Himmerlands new construction, Waterfront Larsen, with 254 new student accommodation.

Among other things, the Couple visited the Culture Nordkraft where they were shown experiments. After that, the Queen visited the Music House and a Childcare Center. Meanwhile, Prince Henrik visited Siemens Wind Power and he was introduced to some of its products, including a 75 meter long wind turbine blade.

After his visit at Siemens Wind Power, the Prince Consort visited the Weber Stephen Nordic company, which since 1990 has had a Nordic headquarters in Nørresundby. During the visit, Prince Consort was presented with barbecues and barbecue techniques.

In the afternoon, the Royal Couple visited Future Nursing, which opened in January 2014. Tomorrow Nursing homes are built to the municipality's vision for the future care of the elderly.

Prince Henrik Silver Trophy.

The Prince Henry Silver Trophy was held from the 16th-18th June 2014 and it sailed for the 26th time, the event was settled in the Bay of Marselisborg Palace. Prior to the race Crown Prince Frederik attended the opening reception at Aarhus City Hall on June 15 and held a speech.

The idea for Prince Henry Silver Trophy came out through a conversation between the Prince Consort and Mr. Lowell Chang from Hong Kong. The Silver Trophy sailed for the first time in 1988.

Crown Prince Frederik at the final of the School Olympics.

The Danish School Olympics final took place on Tuesday, June 16 at Østerbro Stadium in Copenhagen. From the moment the Crown Prince appeared on the running track in front of a filled grandstand, he was cheery and energetic, displaying his great enthusiasm for sports, and the many eager school children were excited to see their royal idol — dressed in sportswear — waving at them on his way from the stadium entrance to the VIP tent.

 Crown Prince Frederik spent two hours at the stadium before he moved on from Copenhagen to Aarhus to participate in the boating competition, the Prince Henrik Silver Trophy.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel in Iceland - Day 1.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are on a 2-day official visit to Iceland. Yesterday (18 June) they met Iceland’s President, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, and his wife, Dorrit Moussaieff. After the meeting, the couple was given a tour of Harpa Concert and Conference Centre.

Later, the royal couple visited Hellisheidi geothermal power station located in the southern part of the country between Reykjavik and Selfoss, where they got an introduction to Iceland’s excellent use of its natural resources. The power station in Hellisheidi produces both heat and electricity generated from the heat of the Earth and Iceland is a pioneer within this field.

Victoria and Daniel also visited the company Össur global leader in the production of artificial limbs. Here they met the 13-year-old Milmar Snaer Örvarsson, who lost his leg due to cancer and now wears a special prosthesis.

Crown Princess Mary, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella at One Direction concert.

On Monday evening, Crown Princess Mary took her two oldest children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella to a Once Direction concert held at the venue, Parken, in Copenhagen.

Thousands of teenage girls were gathered in Parken in Copenhagen on Monday evening to experience their favourite boy band, One Direction, and as it turns out, the famous band also has a few royal fans.

Before the concert began at 8 pm. the Crown Princess arrived with Princess Isabella and Prince Christian who were joined by two of their friends.

The royal family and their two friends disappeared through the VIP entrance and only came out two hours later when the five British-Irish boys finished playing their concert.

On 12 June, the King held an audience with Israeli President Yuli Edelstein. During his visit to Sweden, President Edelstein also met the Speaker of Parliament Per Westerberg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Labour Minister Elisabeth Svantesson.

On Friday, June 13 and Saturday June 14, Crown Princess Victoria took part in the celebration of Nordic Ark's 25 years. Nordic Ark works to give endangered species a future and has its operational headquarters in Aby manor in Bohuslän. Crown Princess Victoria is patron of the Nordic Ark.

The celebration began on Friday with a seminar at the University of Gothenburg where, among others, Professor Johan Rockström and wildlife photographer Mattias Klum attended and spoke on the theme of Nature's beauty - the future of welfare.

On Sunday, June 15, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria attended the ordination of Sweden's first fimale Archbishop, Antje Jackeléns in Uppsala Cathedral. 

Archbishop Antje Jackelénlänk is the 70th Archbishop of the order and the first woman at the office. Antje Jackelén succeeds Anders Wejryd who has held the office for eight years.

The first archbishop in length was Stefan of Alvastra 1164-1185. Uppsala has been the archbishopric since 1164th Archbishop data includes consecrate new bishops and to preside over the Church Council and General Synod doctrinal committee. Swedish Church has 14 bishops and the archbishop is "primus inter pares", that is first among equals and sits as Chairman of the Bishops' Conference.

Today (16 June) Prince Daniel gave the Heart-Lung Foundation major research grant to Professor Jan Nilsson and Associate Professor Isabel Gonçalves at Lund University. Prince Daniel is the honorary chairman of the Heart-Lung Foundation.

Each year, the Heart-Lung Foundation gives a research grant of SEK 15 million spread over three years. The grant is given to the pioneering Swedish heart-lung research that is considered of great importance to patients. This year, the allocation to Professor Jan Nilsson and Associate Professor Isabel Gonçalves at Lund University. They receive grant for their work on developing a vaccine against atherosclerosis as reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. 

Since 2012, Major research grant awarded by Prince Daniel, who is Heart-Lung Foundation Honorary Chairman.

Football match in Skaugum.

While the world's best battle for glory is out in Brazil, Skaugum was the stage of a match today. Together with the Norwegian Football Association, the Crown Prince Family hosted a friendly match between Røa Unified and Team Norway.
The aim was to focus on grassroots football, and how important is the integration for the sport. And not least: that football is first and foremost should be fun.

Røa Unified is a football team from the Oslo region. The team has been around for almost 20 years, they have a great passion for football and good social atmosphere in the group. The team has been involved in Special Olympics in Shanghai in 2007.
Team Norway consisted for the occasion of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess (captain), Mads Møller Dæhli, Jan Åge Fjørtoft, Hanneli Mustaparta, Kjetil André Aamodt and Tina Wulff, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.

It was very even between the teams, and after two innings score 5-5. It took extra time and golden goal to to break the deadlock.
Match's major profile was Røa's Pål Berntsen, with number eleven on the back. He scored four of Røa six goals and, naturally enough named player of the match.

Crown Prince Frederik opens art exhibition.

Two days after Crown Prince Frederik celebrated his father, Prince Henrik’s, 80th birthday in Cayx, France, he was back on Danish soil to attend the opening of an art exhibition in Copenhagen.

It was the exhibition “Paint New York” in the Old Beach Art Society (Kunstforening Gl. Strand), which he visited on Friday afternoon, and here he met some of the foreign artists who had made the paintings.

Crown Prince Frederik seemed genuinely very interested in the show and asked about the different designs and colours of the artworks, according to Danish royal weekly Billed Bladet.

The exhibition runs until September 7th, and it provides an insight into contemporary painting from New York, depicting the city and its dynamic pulse.

Crown Princess Mary says 'No' to Bullying.

Crown Princess Mary attended as usual the Fri For Mobberi (Free from bullying) Relay Race at Fælledparken in Copenhagen on 14 June.
The Mary Foundation, which is behind the popular race, and the Crown Princess have never made a secret of the fact that this is one of their priorities.

Bullying hurts, said Mary before the race sared with seriousness on her voice.

The idea for the course is one that she has taken from her home country, Australia, and the event was the seventh in a row.

Bullying is something we can refuse. Something we can say that we will not accept in our class, Mary said to the audience of children and wished everyone a 'really fun day and a fast race'.

1,500 children and their parents and grandparents had come to Copenhagen park and it was obvious that many had come just as much because of Mary that matter.

She looks so damn good told a father with astonishment in his voice to another father.

It was obvious that Mary enjoyed the afternoon as much as the kids. Thus, she was quite happy and excited in the middle of the large crowd of children and participated in the heating, as the stage was guided by none other than Hr. Skæg.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit recieves prize.

During a charity gala in New York on Tuesday 10 June, Crown Princess Mette-Marit reciever the amfAR Award of Inspiration for her longtime AIDS work, awarded by the American Foundation for AIDS Research. AmfAR has conducted research on AIDS for nearly 30 years. Recently they launched a research initiative aiming to develop a vaccine that can cure HIV by 2020. The foundation will invest $ 100 million in this work.
For the benefit of this, amfAR organized on Tuesday night a charity gala at the Plaza Hotel in New York. During this event, Crown Princess Mette-Marit was awarded a prize for her work in the HIV and AIDS field for many years.
The award was presented by Dr Mervyn Silverman and Franca Sozzani, editor of Italian Vogue.
Dr Mervyn Silverman was president of amfAR from 1986-1996, and is currently the head of the foundation's research programs. In his award speech to Crown Princess he pulled partly up her first meeting with her, which was during a gathering of young leaders in San Francisco in 2008 - where young people from the whole world were invited to discuss how to combat HIV and AIDS.

For someone who has been in the frontline in the fight against AIDS since day one, it is a great pleasure to see that young people the world over can draw strength from such an inspirational leader: Crown Princess Mette-Marit, he said among other things.

In their acceptance speech, the Crown Princess said:

I dedicate this award to all my wonderful young HIV-positive friends around the world, which requires universal access to medicines - and who work for a future free of AIDS. This award belongs to them.

German State Visit to Norway - Day 1.

On 11 June, Their Majesties the King and Queen recieved the President of Germany, HE President Joachim Gauck and Mrs. Daniela Schadt, on their state visit to Norway. True to tradition, the welcoming ceremony took place at the Palace Square.

The state visit will last three days, during which the program the first two days will take place in Oslo. The last day precursor in Trondheim, where Crown Prince Haakon will accompany President Gauck and Mrs. Schadt.
President Gauck and Mrs. Schadt were accompanied to the Palace Square by the Crown Prince, where they were greeted by King Harald and Queen Sonja. The solemn ceremony of a state visit includes playback of both countries' national anthems and inspection of the Guard of Honour of His Majesty the King's Guard.
After the ceremony outside in the square, followed the King and Queen and Crown Prince guests entered to the castle, for the gift exchange and formal photography in the Bird Room, where Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner joined them.

At a state visit is a tradition that head of state who are visiting lay a wreath at the National Monument in memory of those who fell during World War 2. The King and Queen accompanied President Gauck and Mrs. Schadt to Akershus Fortress, where the ceremony took place in the morning.
Following the wreath laying ceremony, President Gauck had a meeting with Parliament President Olemic Thommessen. He also met with Prime Minister Erna Solberg, followed by a press conference.

Meanwhile, Queen Sonja and Mrs. Schadt Elvebakken visited a high school. Oslo Mayor Fabian Stang, welcomed the Queen and Mrs. Schadt accompanied by Education Minister Thorbjorn Røe Isaksen.
To end the day, the Royal Couple held a gala dinner in the Banqueting Hall at the Royal Palace in honor of the state visit. Both the King and the President spoke at the dinner. The Crown Prince, Crown Princess and Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner were present.

Prince Henrik's 80th Birthday.

Tillykke! Prince Consort Henrik's birthday is today and he turns 80! Lots of events were held since the begining of June including a Gala Concert at DR Koncerthuset and a Reception at the Orangery of Fredensborg Palace.

Today the entire Royal Family gathered at the Chateau de Cayx in France for a photo op and a rather small press conference.

The best is to be with the whole family - and the weather, said Prince Henrik, he also said that the family has been singing the birthday song to him.

Later, the day was celebrated with a glass of wine in the company of a bunch of Danish tourists.

Prince Daniel Meets with International Society of Nephrology

On Monday, June 9th, Prince Daniel met with Professor Peter Stenvinkel, Chair Professor Giuseppe Remuzzi and director Luca Segantini from the International Society of Nephrology (International Nefrologisällskapet).

International Society of Nephrology (ISN) is today globally leading and most active organization to disseminate information on diagnosis and preventive treatment of chronic renal failure. ISN promotes its goals through a politically independent, humanitarian and culturally diverse leadership and by organizing regular international meetings.
