Danish Royal Family Press Releases.

On Thursday, 13 February 2014 TRH Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children will pose for pictures for the press in connection with the family skiing vacations in Villars, Switzerland
The photoshoot will take place at 11:00 am at the Col de Bretaye where the skiing mountain path ends.
With this photo oportunity we hope that photographers and media will respect Prince Joachim and Princess Marie's desire of not to photograph the family during the rest of their private holiday.


On Friday, 14 February 2014 TRH The Crown Prince Couple and children will pose for pictures for the press in the context of family skiing holidays.
The photoshoot will take place in the afternoon (time of day effects) at the roundabout at Restaurant Carrefour, Verbier, Switzerland.
With this photo opportunity we hope that photographers and media will respect the Crown Prince Couple's desire of not to photograph the family during the rest of their private holiday.

Prince Henrik in Indonesia Jan 30 - Feb 6

HRH The Prince Consort as President of WWF Denmark traveled to Indonesia on 30 January to 6 February 2014.



The Prince Consort was on the trip accompanied by Secretary General of WWF Denmark Gitte Seeberg and partners who provide support for WWF's work in the Coral Triangle in Indonesia. During the visit, the Prince Consort visited various WWF projects, including Turtle Conservation and Education Center on the island of Bali, which works to protect sea turtles. The center also works to educate the locals in protecting the vulnerable animals.


On Sunday, 2 February, the Prince Consort made a visit to the fishing village of Pasir Putih on the  island of Messa. The local fishermen, who used to be fishing with dynamite, are now using fishing methods that are not harmful to coral reefs and fisheries.


A local school received during the visit a donation for the improvement of the school.

In connection with the trip the Prince Consort said:
"I am once again been very happy to be traveling with WWF. This way I can see for myself how important the work is. And it's always great to be with others, who are motivated to support nature. "


On Wednesday 5 February the Prince Consort visited Cecer village on the island of Flores, where WWF in Co-operation with the Danish Ornithological Society work on a nature conservation project.

Crown Prince Frederik at the Sochi Olympics.

Crown Prince Frederik continued his visit to Sochi for the olympics. We have first an interview he gave to DR in which he speaks of the high costs of the Olympics


"I have pointed out that the costs of holding the special Summer Olympics are skyrocketing. It scares the potential host cities away."

Yesterday the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics were officially opened, and Crown Prince Frederik was at the ceremony supporting Team Denmark


And right now, he must be heading back (or he has arrived already) to Denmark.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit opens photo exhibition.

Every day, nearly 40,000 girls get married against their will. The international photo exhibition "Too young to wed" that the Crown Princess opened today tells the story of some of these girls.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit opened the exhibition in Oslo City Hall. The pictures made a deep impression on the Crown Princess, who urged all those present to tell their friends and colleagues about the exhibition and create awareness about this important topic.
Through her work and travels the Crown Princess has met young girls who have been married too early and seen some of the consequences this may have.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit at the launch of Faktafyk.

HRH Crown Princess Mette-Marit was present when this year's edition of Faktafyk was launched today. Nonfiction is the key to our society, says the Association! Les, who hopes the magazine will promote youth interest in reading.

Faktafyk is a non-fiction magazine for middle school youth, edited and published by Association! Les. The magazine is a response to the increasing demand for fresh nonfiction in school.Funded by the Directorate of Education, shared Faktafyk free of charge to pupils in Year 9 step. This year, 125,000 students received their copies.

Crown Princess Mary's 42nd Birthday.

Today we say "Tilykke med fødselsdagen" to Crown Princess Mary of Denmark who turns 42!


In 2000 Denmark was introduced to Miss Mary Donaldson, and four years later, she became their Crown Princess and future Queen. Now, nearly 14 years later, Crown Princess Mary is well-loved by the Danes and has earned the title she holds.

Crown Princess Mary presents the Cancer Society Merit Award 2014.

February 4th is World Cancer Day and on this day the Cancer Society honors a person, group, department, or others who have made a special effort against cancer. The award was this year given to the Children’s Center SIV. The Children’s Center SIV is an institution for seriously ill children and their parents.

Norwegian Royal Roundup.

On 29 January HRH Crown Prince Haakon attended the First Dignity Day at vestby high school in Akershus with 350 students and 20 tutors. Students shared stories about what is needed to turn their own and others' lives for the better.

It was shared stories about identity, bullying and to help others who are in a difficult situation. One of the students told of how he had changed from being a bully in elementary school. The bully victim had to change schools, and it also went in on them that had bothered him.
- All here is a manager, said the Crown Prince of conclusion and asked students to reflect on how they wanted to spend their lives and their resources. - What footprint do you want to leave?

International guests

Crown Prince Haakon was invited vestby high school in connection with the Comenius project "Stay at school, for your future" that goes this week. Pupils and teachers from Lithuania, France, Denmark and Spain were therefore the approach.
The visit ended with lunch as students from the school department, restaurant and food processing had made.
On 31 January, Their Majesties the King and Queen met with rescuers and residents of Flatanger - a municipality that was hit by fires.
The royal couple met people who had lost homes and industry. The King also expressed his sympathy and admiration for the efforts of rescuers and volunteers in a letter to the mayor earlier this week.
The visit began at the community center Lauvsnes. School and kindergarten children gave royal couple a warm welcome, before meeting with those responsible for crisis management and representatives of the task forces began inside the Lauvsnes school.
The King and Queen were given a briefing on the incident and the difficult firefighters, before Mayor Olav Jørgen Bjørkås accompanied the King and Queen on the areas that were hardest hit.

Swedish Royal Roundup.

On Thursday, 30 January, Prince Daniel presented the prize to Entrepreneur of the Year at a gala at the City Hall in Stockholm.
This year's Entrepreneur of the Year went to Erik Arpi from Aktiebolaget Pictura.


Prince Daniel gave a speech during the ceremony in the town hall and said among other things:
"I dream of entrepreneurship will be the next big social movement and together we create a culture where the venture is to succeed. Getting to spend the evening with you entrepreneurs - community builder - is for me a true delight!
I have great respect for you. I know how hard you work hard to develop your company and to achieve your goals while you build our common Sweden stronger. "

On Friday 31 January, the King visited Lund University, ESS and MAX IV.
The visit began when The King was welcomed at Lund University by Rector Per Eriksson and Chief of Protocol Carin Brenner. 
Harriet Bulkeley is in 2014 the holder of the King Carl XVI Gustaf Visiting Professor of Environmental Science, a professorship that was established in 1996 at the King's 50th birthday. The professorship go every year to a prominent foreign researchers who can contribute to the renewal of Swedish environmental science. Harriet Bulkeley research primarily on three areas:
  • to develop systems for how regions and cities can work with environmental issues
  • issues surrounding urbanization and its impacts on the environment
  • how environmental issues are managed both cross-border between the state and private companies.
Subsequently the king hear a short speech by Frederick Tersmeden about "Candidate Sprinchorn and sjönöten - a story of academic environmental responsibility. "
After lunch, King visited ESS and MAX IV is currently being built near near Lund.

Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle in Umeå

From Friday 31 January to Sunday, February 2 Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle attended the opening ceremony of Umeå 2014 European Capital of Culture.
The visit began at the Museum of Västerbotten where Crown Princess Couple were welcomed by President Ulrica Grubbström and then saw two exhibitions.



Then, The Crown Princess inaugurated the Sune Jonsson center for documentary photography.




The day ended with a dinner at the residence where the governor Magdalena Andersson hosted.




Saturday began with a visit to the University of Umeå artistic campus. Rector Lena Gustafsson hosted the visit. Arts Campus consists of the School of Architecture, Institute of Design, Fine Arts, Bildmuseet Humlab-X. The art center is located in a building designed by the Danish Agency Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with White Architects.






After lunch, which was held inside the Arts studio at the Institute of Design, the Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle visited central Umeå to see a part of all the experiences that are open to all residents and visitors in Umeå.






The next stop on the walk was Sápmi, a lounge at the Town Hall Square in Umeå where several samebys from Västerbotten are in place. The Crown Princess Couple and Princess Estelle were among the attendants.





The Crown Princess attended the opening ceremony Burning Snow which marked the official start of the European Capital of Culture year in Umeå. The ceremony took place at the Ume River, directly below the City Hall Park in central Umeå. Around 55,000 visitors had gathered.
