Anniversary of the Battle of Heligoland.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Princess Mary attended today the 150th anniversary of the Danish fallen in the Battle of Heligoland in 1864.
The Crown Princesses started the day with a memorial service in Kristiansand Cathedral.

On the way out of the church, was given a briefing on the frigate "Jutland " - one of the ships that carried the dead and wounded in the country. A model of  "Jutland" is on display in the porch.

The memorial ceremony took place at the monument in the cemetery. Commander Arne Petersen gave the memorial address before Crown Princess Mary and representatives of the Danish Marine Association and Tønder Marine Society layed wreaths. Crane closure was followed by a minute of silence to honor the Fallen.
Finally, the hymn " How beautiful that beat for the Fatherland " and " Yes, we love this country " were sung.

Crown Princess Mette - Marit and Crown Princess Mary went on to Lasarett height Odderøya . Here they report on the quarantine station "HRH Crown Prince Regent Frederik Fellowship of 178 " by Leif Andreas Thortveit.
Crown Princess Mary was given the opportunity to name the "Crown Prince Frederik portal".

In the afternoon, the Crown Princesses whistled aboard a Danish naval vessel at Lagmannsholmen. A reception for 150 guests was held. Both Crown Princesses were given a commemorative medal for the Battle of Heligoland.
