Queen Margrethe recieves the new translation of the Icelandic Sagas.

Queen Margrethe was presented the new translation of the Icelandic Sagas from Iceland's ambassador. The ceremony took place in the Great Hall at King Christian IX's Palace, Amalienborg.

The Icelandic ambassador Sturla Sigurjónsson conducted the ceremony for the Queen.
In connection with the presentation the Icelandic poet Thorarinn Eldearn recited a drotkvæde, there is a custom of the Viking Age, where Icelandic poets praised and thanked the monarchs with the use of their art - in this case a poem written for the occasion.
